Local Health

Abuse Counseling & Treatment, Inc.: Serving victims of domestic violence and their children and survivors of sexual assault and human trafficking will remain open for services.  Some of the services include 24-hour helpline, 3 safe shelters, rape crisis center, individual counseling and therapy, and  Legal program for Injunctions for Protection.  Services are offered in Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties.  We are now offering teletherapy and counseling for individuals needing assistance and do not want to leave home during this time with the COVID-19.  For more information, shelter, appointments, please call our 24-hour hotline at 239-939-3112 or check out our website at www.actabuse.com.

Centers for Disease Control Interim Guidance for Businesses & Employers: The Centers for Disease Control has developed Interim Guidance for Businesses and Employers to plan, prepare and respond to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This interim guidance is based on what is currently known about the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will update this interim guidance as needed and as additional information becomes available.

Coronavirus COVID-19 and Pink Eye—Are They Connected?: According to Dr. Nika Priest-Allen, Board Certified Ophthalmologist at Quigley Eye Specialists, “Viral conjunctivitis is the most common form of pink eye. Viruses account for 80 percent of all cases. The good news is these types of cases usually go away on their own. English and Spanish languages are readily available. United Way 211 is for non-emergency assistance only; 211 may not be reached on some hotel, cell, or pay phones. Behavioral Health

Centerstone Hospital & Addictions Center: is fully operational and continuing to serve clients. The hospital Access Center team is available to those with an emergent need for behavioral health treatment. Our Walk-in Center in Bradenton remains open and has extended hours of operation to address behavioral health needs in the community. Centerstone’s other programs continue to remain operational, increasing care via video/telephone to reduce risk of virus exposure. We are taking measures to protect everyone and closely monitoring information provided by national, state and local government, and regulatory agencies. Narcotics Anonymous Virtual Meetings: A variety of virtual meetings are available through Narcotics Anonymous.

Valerie’s House to Offer Virtual Grief Support Groups: Using a secure and HIPAA compliant platform, the virtual support groups will be available to all children and families in the Valerie’s House program starting Monday, March 30.  Valerie’s House is accepting appointments for new enrollments.
